Sinkankas: A handsome production, designed “primarily to give assistance to the employees of the Smith Patterson Company in understanding more fully the diamond, pearl and colored gem business.” The preface gives sources of information that were drawn upon for the factual portions; these are reliable and the present work also shares this distinction. Much space is devoted to the diamond in all aspects, also the pearl, and much less wordage is given to the other gemstones and such rarities as kunzite and hiddenite. The frontispiece color plate is from watercolor sketches of rough crystal specimens of emerald and a cut gem from Muzo, Colombia.
