The report treats diamonds and a range of colored stones and ornamental materials, with attention to the localities from which they were obtained and their potential economic importance. It also discusses developments in the American gem trade and provides contemporary production and valuation information, forming part of Kunz’s continuing annual documentation of the gem resources of the United States. He discusses gems in North Carolina and Montana and gives an early description of what came to be known as Geneva rubies.
