The paper discusses one of the seals found at Phu Khao Thong which deserves special attention. At first glance an intaglio seal with a classical motif, a standing Herakles, the discussion will show that, although the motif ultimately derives from Graeco-Roman art, this seal does not originate from the Mediterranean region. In fact, type and style strongly associate it with locally produced seals in the north-western regions of South Asia.
