A small but important catalogue of Domenico Tata’s collection of 210 Sicilian ornamental stones, chiefly jaspers and agates, with lapis lazuli also represented. The entries identify the stones and record the Sicilian localities from which they were obtained, making the work an early source for the distribution and collecting of decorative stone materials on the island. Published at Naples in 1772, it was Tata’s first scientific publication and is particularly valuable for the history of Italian mineralogy and lapidary materials.
