Young presents a popular illustrated account of the personal jewelry of Queen Elizabeth II, describing important pieces in the royal collection and the occasions and individuals associated with them. The book discusses tiaras, necklaces, brooches, bracelets, earrings, and other ornaments, including jewels inherited from earlier members of the royal family as well as gifts received by the Queen. Particular attention is given to diamonds, pearls, and major colored gemstones and to the historical provenance of notable pieces. Rather than serving as a technical gemological catalogue, the volume places the jewels within the history of the British royal family and their use at coronations, state occasions, official visits, and other ceremonial events.
