The focus of this study is the synthetic jadeite jade produced by the American General Electric Corporation. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and laser Raman spectroscopy were used to examine its spectral properties, aiming to characterize this type of synthetic jadeite through vibrational spectroscopy and to identify markers for distinguishing it from natural jadeite. The results show that GE synthetic jadeite closely matches natural jadeite in the fingerprint region of the FTIR spectrum, but shows clear differences in the 2000–4000 cm⁻¹ functional group region, with absorption peaks at 3375, 3471, and 3614 cm⁻¹ corresponding to O–H vibrations. In the laser Raman spectrum, GE synthetic jadeite also aligns well with natural jadeite, displaying a group of sharp scattering peaks at 376, 700, 989, and 1039 cm⁻¹, which indicate a well-formed crystal structure. However, the FTIR and Raman peaks of the synthetic jadeite are shifted to higher frequencies, suggesting a lack of isomorphic substitution by heavy positive ions.
