Fluorine-rich aspidolite, observed for the first time in ruby-bearing marbles from Nangimali (Azad-Kashmir, Pakistan), coexists with phengite, paragonite, and phlogopite in complex mica intergrowths. Unlike phengite and paragonite, both aspidolite and phlogopite are enriched in fluorine and are found intimately associated with paragonite. The occurrence of aspidolite, along with salt solid inclusions and the presence of anhydrite, provides compelling evidence for the involvement of evaporitic material in the genesis of these gem-quality rubies.
