Prepared by the Louvre’s Médiathèque to accompany the 2008 Babylone exhibition, this bibliography brings together written, visual, and audio resources for preparing and extending a museum visit. Its subjects include the history and civilisations of the ancient Near East, Mesopotamia, Babylon, the Code of Hammurabi, Babylonian deities, the Creation Epic, and the Epic of Gilgamesh. It connects the temporary exhibition with the Louvre’s permanent collections, offering routes into the study of both historical Babylon and its enduring legends. Includes photo of Parthinian statuette featuring “ruby” eyes.
