The exhibition Schone Schijn: Romeinse juweelkunst in West-Europa is the first retrospective to present five centuries of Roman jewelry art in our regions. It is a collaboration between the Provincial Gallo-Roman Museum and the archaeology department of Ghent University. More than 40 museums and private collectors from Belgium and abroad contributed, with several objects never before shown to the public. This richly illustrated catalogue contains descriptions and color images of more than 400 pieces of jewelry. A number of internationally renowned scholars have contributed, each telling the fascinating story behind Roman jewelry—sometimes in-depth, sometimes anecdotal. A total of 43 authors took part in the publication, which constitutes a unique reference work. Enjoy the timeless splendor on display!
