Stone examines the “axe-god” (dios-hacha), a distinctive form of jadeite artifact from Central America, with particular attention to its geographical distribution and chronological position. The study considers the occurrence of these carved jadeite axes within the archaeological record and their distribution among Central American cultural areas in an effort to establish where and when the type was produced and used.
