Cameos and intaglios are engravings on gemstones. The origins of this traditional technique date back to the ancient Babylonian period, and it has been handed down through ancient Rome and the Renaissance to the present day. This book collects 390 works from the 2nd century B.C. to the 19th century and systematically introduces their historical evolution and diversity. Based on an exhibit in Japan organized by Diana Scarisbrick.
