Physical properties of some Myanmar gems were studied using a refractometer, dichroscope, polariscope, specific-gravity test, UV test and microscope. Their chemical compositions were then investigated using XRF techniques. Gem identification, evaluation and colour improvement were subsequently studied on the basis of these physical properties and chemical compositions.
