Dedicated to Sultan Selim, the work consists of an introduction followed by two major sections, the first comprising 21 chapters on precious stones and the second eight sections on metals, followed by two conclusions. Storey records two manuscripts, one dated 1669–70 and defective at the end and another modern copy breaking off in the sixteenth chapter on precious stones.
