Eppler, Jagodzinski, and Oppermann describe microscopic inclusions of corundum occurring within corundum crystals and examine their crystallographic relationships with the host. The study investigates the orientation and structural relationship of the included corundum crystals, using crystallographic observations to determine the nature of their intergrowth with the surrounding host. The authors discuss the significance of these inclusions for understanding corundum growth and crystallization, showing that inclusions of the same mineral species as the host can preserve evidence of distinct stages or conditions of crystal development.
