A short essay on Egyptian mummies, discussing the ancient Egyptian practice of embalming and the preservation of the dead. Lösch examines mummification in the context of Egyptian funerary customs and considers the methods and substances employed in preparing bodies for burial. The work belongs to the early nineteenth-century European literature on Egyptian antiquities and mummification, a subject then attracting increasing antiquarian and scientific attention.
